Christmas Lights in December at Frederick Meijer Gardens
The exhibit runs from November to January with 46 trees portraying fact and folklore. This exhibit honors cultures and traditions from around the world.
Along with the different trees there is also The Railway Garden. This miniature train travels through plants and handmade replicas of 40 landmarks from Grand Rapids and 5 landmarks from Grand Rapids’ sister cities.
There are different events that are going on as well. They have Santa and Mrs. Claus visits, reindeer visits, seasonal light experiences, carolers, and a tree lighting party.
Christmas Trees from Around the World
The exhibit has 46 trees with Christmas displays from around the world. The volunteers at Fredrick Meijer Gardens do a wonderful job decorating and creating a family fun space to enjoy the different cultures from all over the world.
Whether it is homemade glass ornaments and homemade springerle cookies from Germany or India’s rangoli, designs and patters made by hand each year.
The Seasonal Light Experience
New this year is the Light Experience. The light show takes place at the Fredrick Meijer Gardens Amphitheater.
It is an immersive light show that is the first of its kind. The light show is inspired by the natural world.
They offer adult cocktails or hot chocolate along with hot handhelds, treats, fire pits, and fun glowing goods while you are at the show. The show runs for 20 minutes every half hour.
